Tamales are an ancient snack eaten all over the South Americas with all sorts of different variants popping up all over the shop. It is a steamed corn dumpling stuffed with most frequently slow cooked pulled pork but also a sweet version is eaten with hot chocolate called atole. In northern Mexico tamales are wrapped in corn husks but in Southern Mexico in places like Veracruz banana leaves are used. Whatever the flavour smash on some home made salsas, sour cream and enjoy with a cool refreshing hibiscus and ginger agua fresca.

Smokin’ Hot Tamales is all about fresh, tasty, sometimes fiery Mexican food. The brain child of chef Jon Maltas, S.H.T came about after his desire to give the public a taste of proper Mexican street food. Mama and Papa Maltas lived in Mexico in the 70’s and ever since a family holiday back there Jon has enjoyed everything la cocina Mexicana has to offer.

We source all our meat with the best possible taste in mind that’s why we use Gloucester Old Spot pork shoulder for our carnitas and 28 day matured Galloway beef brisket for our bangin’ beef burritos. Oh yeah let us not forget the veggies! The veggie burrito is a crackin’ combo of sweet potato, hominy corn, chipotle chilli and Westcombe Cheddar.

All our packaging is supplied by London Bio Packaging and Biopac. It is fully compostable and made from recycled materials.
